Ethanolamine Metabolism in Plant Tissues" 2
Summarv. Ethanolamine is readily metabolized by oat, pea, wheat, apple and carrot tissue preparations. Ethanolamine-1,2 14C was incorporated into the lipid fraction, and 14C activity was distributed in the organic acid, sugar, acid volatile, carbon dioxide and insoluble residule fractions. The distribution varied with the particular tissue. Incorporation into the lipid fraction occurred in tiss...
متن کاملEthanolamine metabolism in cultured bovine aortic endothelial cells.
The role of extracellular ethanolamine in phospholipid synthesis was examined in cultured bovine aortic endothelial cells. Serine and ethanolamine were both readily accumulated by these cells and incorporated into phospholipid. Exposing cells to extracellular ethanolamine for 4-6 weeks had no effect on cell growth, yet increased the phosphatidylethanolamine content of these cells by 31% as comp...

متن کاملQuantitative gas-liquid chromatographic analysis of ethanolamine, monomethyl ethanolamine, and dimethyl ethanolamine from lipids.
A method for the separation and quantitative estimation of ethanolamine, dimethyl ethanolamine, and monomethyl ethanolamine derived from lipids is described. After acid hydrolysis of the lipids, the bases are extracted from the neutralized hydrolysate with t-butonol and separated by gas-liquid chromatography.
متن کاملUse of 3-aminopropanol as an ethanolamine analogue in the study of phospholipid metabolism in Tetrahymena.
About 50% of the ethanolamine in phosphatidylethanolamine in Tetrahymena is replaced by 3-aminopropan-1-ol when the compound is added to the growth medium. The phosphatidylpropanolamine which is formed is not converted into the corresponding phosphatidylcholine analogue by methylation. There is an increase in phosphatidylcholine formed by the phosphotransferase pathway from free [3H]choline and...
